Yalda shel Aba (Daddy’s Girl) #MicroblogMondays

“I just realized all the love songs are written about daughters.” ~Hubby

She may be the reason I survive
The why and wherefore I’m alive
The one I’ll care for through the rough and ready years
Me, I’ll take her laughter and her tears
And make them all my souvenirs
For where she goes I’ve got to be
The meaning of my life is she

  1. Oh, this is lovely. And so true! My husband is the same… (Even though the phrase ‘daddy’s girl’ makes me want to throw up a tiny little bit, because of all the connotations it evokes in our culture; ‘yalda shel aba’ sounds so much nicer. I’d stick to the Hebrew 😉

    • He’s wanted a baby girl since he was a kid and begged for a sister (which he never got). She’s had him wrapped around her little finger since the day she was born.

  2. CHILLS! I never heard that song that way. But now that you’ve written this, I can never again hear it as a love song to a woman.

Of course you had me with the title 🙂

  3. This made me cry. I love that he feels that way about your baby girl. I know that Grey feels that way about our daughter. Stirs up old memories though and makes me miss my dad.
